Greetings! My name is Jennifer McKeen Rodrigues. I am passionate about health and empowering others on their health journey. I have dedicated years to gaining advanced knowledge of how the practices of yoga can bring balance to the whole person. My own transformation with the use of yoga has allowed me to be asymptomatic of a rare bone marrow disorder, have incredible tools for stress relief, better sleep, sharper focus, and be a more compassionate and loving mom, spouse, daughter, and human being. I have completed over 1,300 hours of yoga training and have been teaching yoga since 2009. I’ve completed 120 hours of trauma informed yoga training which has served me well as a military spouse. I am also a certified yoga therapist through The International Association of Yoga Therapists, who works one-on-one with individuals wishing to have extra care with medical illness, injury, pre/post-surgery outcomes, and mental health balance. I hold a certification in Embodied Social Justice through The Embody Lab, which allows me to have a foundation and working knowledge in the equity, equality, and value of all beings. I’ve completed trainings in Yoga Nidra and Yoga for ADHD. If you are interested in what yoga therapy, or any other specialty, has to offer you, please contact me to set up a free consultation and to find out how we can work together on your goals. Email me yogi dot jen at outlook dot com.
My passions in yoga include working with neurodivergent populations, survivors of trauma, Long-haulers COVID, LGTBQIA+ community (particularly youth), 50+ age group population (hey Boomers), first responders, soldiers, veterans, spouses and dependents of military. I have a big background in personal training and group fitness; I love to tie in elements of strength, mobility, and somatic work into cultivating body awareness and acceptance. I also enjoy incorporating yogic philosophy and spiritual elements to those clients who resonate with these topics.
Outside of teaching I love to kayak, hike mountains, and generally be in nature. I am a published poet, essayist, and a nominated Best of the Net photographer. I enjoy painting, making clothing, cooking, reading (especially memoir, yogic philosophy, anatomy, the brain, & graphic novels), singing with a fantastic choir, and playing video games. As a military spouse I’ve had the joy of living and traveling all over the US. You can usually find me and my family in an art museum somewhere in DC.
Your body is your home, welcome to it.

Additionally, if you find that you are self-diagnosing as you read about mental health conditions as you browse online resources, please take a step back and know that since all humans have mental health, we can find pieces of ourselves in any description of a condition or diagnosis and that is natural. One of the most important aspects of successful mental health treatment is the therapeutic relationship between client and practitioner.
