Welcome to my blog! My name is Jennifer Rodrigues. What have I gotten myself into? Something good I’m sure, for the whole world maybe.
I’m going to share with you some of the passions of my life because I’m sure some of you also share those passions: yoga, cooking, exercising, healthy eating, nutritional info, cats, naps, cat naps, food. Did I mention food because I’m a little obsessed with food.
Why am I doing a yoga blog? Well I read that people who are in love with what they do are willing to do it for free. That is true of me. Look, I also know how to rhyme. I also want to bring free yoga to people who may not be able to afford classes, may live in an area where yoga isn’t available to them, and those who may have a special circumstance about them; i.e. pregnant, stroke survivor, baby boomer, or injury, but may not have access to a specialist in the field of yoga. If you are one of those who has a special circumstance, please get approval from your doc before beginning a yoga or exercise practice. I always focus on breath-work with my yoga practice, because if we don’t breath we die. It’s actually it little more than that. Breath-work has this ability to rewire our brain. If you don’t like the thoughts you have or the way you react to situations, learning to use the breath can help you relearn new, good habits. My favorite analogy is this: for years you’ve been walking a specific path from your home to your best friends house but that path has become plagued with snakes, spiders, and thick mud. You no longer enjoy taking this path but it’s all you know. So you have to venture out and create a new path. One where there are free tacos and cute kittens but no cat poop because these kitties have no butts. I got creative at the end, but you visualized my point, correct? The well-rutted path is of our own thoughts dug deep into our brain; the thoughts that make us upset, fearful, or physically sick. We have powerful minds that can be changed with healthy discipline and learning to breath deeply and slowly.
So take a deep breath friends and enjoy this ride with me.
